You want to balance the brightness of your screen to a mid-level. The key is to be bright enough to see clearly, but not so bright that it can damage your eyes. Adjust your text size to make it easier to read. If you have dyslexia, you can change the font on your computer to Open-Dyslexic. Even if you do not have dyslexia, changing your computer fronts to an easier-to-read format can help prevent eyestrain.
Make Paperwork Easier To Read.
Much like changing the text size to make your computer easier to read, print documents at a larger font size to prevent eye strain. Can't change the font size? Try using a folder that magnifies labels and paperwork for you!
Taking breaks is not only necessary to protect your eyes, but it can also lower the risk of heart disease and aid in your focus. Find the best intervals for your focus by testing different time frames. A few examples would be:
- 15 minutes focus, 2-minute break
- 30 minutes focus, 5-minute break
- 60 minutes focus, 10-minute break
Many apps remind you to take frequent breaks, including Be Focused, Toggle, or your phone's timer.
Exercise Your Eyes.
Many different exercises help straighten your eyesight; here are a few to try:
- 20-20-20 Method: Every 20 minutes, look at an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
- 10-Times Method: Look at a distant object for 10 seconds, switch your focus to a nearby thing for 10 seconds, and repeat this 10 times.
- Eyes Closed Method: Close and slowly move your eyes up and down. Repeat this 5-10 times, several times a day.
